The THK LSR-05 is a concept car that recently made waves at the Japan Mobility Show 2023. While the name “THK” might not be immediately recognizable, this company plays a crucial role in producing various mechanical components for cars. Now, they’ve stepped into the spotlight with their cutting-edge electric crossover concept.
The THK LSR-05: Luxury, Sport, and Revolution
Design: The LSR-05’s sleek exterior was penned by the independent studio SN Design Platform, led by none other than former Nissan chief designer, Shiro Nakamura. Nakamura is renowned for his work on the iconic Nissan GT-R R35, and his touch is evident in the LSR-05’s modern lines.
Dimensions: At 196.7 inches long and 77.4 inches wide, it’s comparable to a Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, but stands taller at 60.2 inches.
Interior: Inside, you’ll find a four-seater cabin with a unique “stealth seat slide system,” allowing for a completely flat floor configuration. Wood trim accents and suede-like upholstery add a touch of luxury.
Technology: The LSR-05 boasts an impressive 800V electric powertrain. Two variable magnetic flux in-wheel motors at the rear produce 125 horsepower each, while a front motor adds an extra 295 hp. The tri-motor system combines for a total output of 544 hp.
Suspension and Brakes: Four-wheel steering, electric brakes, and an active suspension system utilizing THK’s MR fluid active damper tube ensure a smooth ride.
While the THK LSR-05 won’t hit production lines anytime soon, its technology hints at exciting possibilities for future EVs. Keep an eye out for THK’s innovations—they might just shape the automotive landscape in unexpected ways!
