Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid: A Game-Changer for the Mid-Size Pickup Segment

Ford has announced that it will introduce a plug-in hybrid version of its popular Ranger mid-size pickup truck in early 2025, expanding its global truck family with a new model that combines electric driving capability with adventure-ready versatility and work-ready dependability.

The Ranger Plug-in Hybrid will be powered by a 2.3-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine and an electric motor, which will enable it to deliver more torque than any other Ranger powertrain and offer a zero-emission driving range of more than 45 kilometres. This will allow customers to enjoy the benefits of pure electric driving in urban areas and low-emission zones, while also having the freedom to explore off-road trails and remote locations without worrying about the charging infrastructure.

The Ranger Plug-in Hybrid will also feature Pro Power Onboard, a system that provides power outlets in the cargo bed and the cabin, allowing customers to plug in their tools and appliances on a worksite or a campsite. This means that customers can leave their noisy, bulky and heavy generators at home, freeing up more space in the cargo bed for other gear and equipment.

The Ranger Plug-in Hybrid will not compromise on the essential attributes that make the Ranger Europe’s best-selling pickup truck. It will have a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg, the same as the rest of the Ranger lineup. It will also have four-wheel drive and advanced driver assistance technologies to enhance its off-road performance and safety.
