2024 BMW XM Label Red

With 748 hp it's now more powerful, more exclusive and more extroverted.

Stronger, more exclusive, more extroverted: just a few months after the start of production of the new BMW XM, BMW M GmbH presents the flagship of its first high-performance automobile with an electrified propulsion system: BMW XM Label Red.

The plug-in hybrid system develops a maximum power of 550 kW/748 hp (generated through the combination of a V8 combustion engine with up to 430 kW/585 hp and an integrated electric motor in the M Steptronic eight-speed transmission producing up to 145 kW/197 hp).

BMW XM Label Red is not only the most powerful BMW model in history, but also leads the power rankings in the Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupe segments.

BMW XM Label Red will make its world premiere at the Auto Shanghai International Auto Show in April 2023. China is one of the most important sales regions for BMW XM Label Red, along with the US and the Middle East. The model can be ordered from dealers starting April 28, 2023.

M TwinPower Turbo Engine and M HYBRID

The heart of the BMW XM Label Red is a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine that delivers 430 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an electric motor that adds another 145 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor is integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission and features a patented pre-gearing stage that boosts its effective torque to 450 lb-ft at the transmission input.

The result is a hybrid powertrain that generates a whopping 748 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque, making the XM Label Red the most powerful M model ever. The powertrain also allows for different driving modes, such as Hybrid Auto, Hybrid Max eDrive, Sport Boost and Sport Individual. These modes let the driver choose between maximum efficiency, pure electric driving, maximum performance or personalized settings.

The XM Label Red can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph or 175 mph with the optional M Driver’s Package. It also has an estimated electric driving range of around 30 miles thanks to its 19.2-kWh lithium-ion battery pack under the floor.

    Battery

The battery pack of the XM Label Red has a usable energy content of 25.7 kWh and can be charged at home or at a public charging station. The battery pack can be fully replenished in about three hours and 15 minutes using the onboard 7.4-kW charger. The battery pack also provides power for the auxiliary systems, such as the air conditioning, heating and infotainment.

The battery pack is designed to optimize weight distribution and lower the center of gravity of the vehicle. It also features an advanced thermal management system that ensures optimal performance and longevity.

M xDrive Traction Control and M Sport Differential

The XM Label Red features a rear-biased M xDrive all-wheel-drive system that distributes torque between the front and rear axles according to the driving situation and mode. The system also works with an electronically controlled M Sport differential at the rear axle that enhances traction and stability by limiting slip between the rear wheels.

The M xDrive system and the M Sport differential allow for agile handling and dynamic cornering performance. They also enable controlled drifts on demand by activating the M Dynamic Mode or switching off the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).

    Exterior design

The XM Label Red stands out with its distinctive exterior design that combines muscular proportions with sporty details. The front end features a large kidney grille with red rings and vertical bars, flanked by slim LED headlights with L-shaped daytime running lights. The front bumper has large air intakes with black mesh inserts and red accents.

The side profile showcases the long hood, short overhangs, sloping roofline and sculpted wheel arches of the XM Label Red. The vehicle also has a red stripe that runs along its flanks and up around its side windows, creating a dynamic contrast. The standard 23-inch wheels have a star-spoke design and are finished in Jet Black with red accents.

The rear end features LED taillights with a three-dimensional effect, a roof spoiler, a black diffuser with red accents and four trapezoidal exhaust tips. The XM Label Red badge is prominently displayed on the tailgate.

The XM Label Red is available in various exterior colors, including Toronto Red metallic, which is exclusive to this model. Customers can also choose from more than 50 BMW Individual special paint finishes for a personalized touch.
