Mercedes-AMG Unveils New GLC Coupes with Turbocharged Hybrid Power

Mercedes-AMG has just unveiled the new coupe versions of its GLC SUVs, and they are nothing short of spectacular. The 2025 GLC63 S E Performance and the 2024 GLC43 are the latest additions to the AMG lineup, and they both pack a punch with their turbocharged four-cylinder engines and hybrid systems.

The GLC63 S E Performance is the star of the show, as it combines a 469-hp 2.0-liter engine with a 201-hp electric motor to produce a whopping 671 hp and 752 lb-ft of torque. This makes it one of the most powerful SUVs on the market, and also one of the most efficient, thanks to its plug-in hybrid capability and 6.1-kWh battery. The electric motor is mounted on the rear axle and can send power to all four wheels, as well as operate in two gears for optimal performance. Mercedes claims that the GLC63 S E Performance can sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 171 mph.

The GLC43 is no slouch either, as it uses the same 2.0-liter engine as the GLC63 S E Performance, but with a smaller turbocharger and a 48-volt mild hybrid system. It still delivers an impressive 416 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, which is enough to propel it from zero to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph. The GLC43 also benefits from an electrically assisted turbocharger that eliminates lag and enhances responsiveness.

Both models feature an AMG-specific grille, a rear diffuser, dual exhausts, and 20-inch wheels, as well as a sporty interior with a flat-bottomed steering wheel, AMG-branded pedals, display screens, and floor mats. They also come with rear-wheel steering, adaptive dampers, active anti-roll bars, and larger brakes for improved handling and stability. The AMG Dynamic Select system offers different driving modes to suit different situations and preferences.

The new AMG GLC coupes are expected to hit the dealerships in early 2024 for the GLC43 and later that year for the GLC63 S E Performance. Pricing has not been announced yet, but they are likely to be in the mid-to-high six-figure range. These are SUVs that offer both luxury and performance in a sleek and stylish package.
