On April 19th we’ve written about the Xpeng G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV.
The model was unvailed at the Auto Shanghai 2023. The Xpeng G6 is aiming to take on Tesla’s popular Model Y in the Chinese and potentially international markets. Priced at RMB 209,900 ($28,956), the G6 presents a competitive offering that is over 20% cheaper than its Tesla counterpart in China. With a significant number of pre-orders already received, Xpeng’s CEO, He Xiaopeng, is confident in achieving monthly deliveries of over 10,000 units.
The Xpeng G6 shares similarities with the Tesla Model Y in terms of size, with a length of 4.75 meters and a width of 1.92 meters. However, it surpasses the Model Y in terms of driving range, offering an impressive 755 kilometers on a single charge. This longer range makes it an appealing choice for customers seeking extended driving capabilities.
One of the standout features of the Xpeng G6 is its faster charging capabilities, allowing for a quick 10-minute charge. This feature addresses one of the main concerns for electric vehicle owners and offers added convenience to its users. Additionally, the G6 comes equipped with the XNGP automotive driver assistance system, providing advanced safety and driving assistance functionalities.
Xpeng plans to further enhance the G6’s capabilities by introducing the “AI Valet Driver” function in the fourth quarter of 2023. This function is expected to elevate the autonomous driving experience for G6 owners and highlights Xpeng’s commitment to innovation and technological advancements.
The Xpeng G6 is available in various trim options, including two “Pro” versions and three “Max” versions, each offering different drivetrain configurations, torque levels, range options, top speeds, acceleration capabilities, and prices. The pricing range of the G6 spans from RMB 209,900 to RMB 276,900 ($28,956 to $38,134), with the starting price being 7% lower than initially announced. This competitive pricing strategy positions the G6 as an attractive option for electric vehicle enthusiasts.
With its strong start and the company’s ambitious targets, Xpeng aims to increase its monthly deliveries to 15,000 units starting in September.Β This goal demonstrates Xpeng’s determination to establish itself as a prominent player in the electric vehicle market. Despite a decline in shares since 2022, Xpeng’s stock experienced a 6.85% increase following the successful unveiling of the G6.
While the Xpeng G6 is currently focused on the Chinese market, Xpeng has hinted at the potential introduction of the model in other markets. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding its international availability at this time. If Xpeng does expand its reach, the G6 could become a notable contender not only in China but also in other regions worldwide.
