Volvo has introduced the all-new, fully electric Volvo ES90, a vehicle that defies traditional segment definitions by blending the characteristics of a sedan, fastback, and SUV. This innovative approach aims to eliminate compromises, offering a versatile car suitable for both professional and personal life.
Design and Style
The Volvo ES90 boasts a confident and distinctive stance, enhanced by a slightly raised ride height that provides the driver with a commanding view of the road. The flowing roofline balances elegant aesthetics with interior space, while also contributing to excellent aerodynamics, which boosts overall efficiency and electric range.
Key design elements include:
- Front: Features the signature Thor’s Hammer headlight design, presenting a familiar yet modern Volvo identity.
- Rear: Showcases distinctive C-shaped LED rear lamps, complemented by LED lamps in the rear window, creating a unique light sequence.
- Customisation: Customers can choose from seven exterior colours and four-wheel options, ranging from 20 to 22 inches.
Interior Comfort and Functionality
Inside, the ES90 prioritises premium comfort, authentic materials, and purpose-driven design, aligning with Scandinavian design principles. The long wheelbase of 3.1 metres provides generous legroom for second-row passengers.

- Sound Comfort: Low noise levels inside the cabin, complemented by a top-of-the-line Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 25 speakers, including headrest and ceiling speakers, and Dolby Atmos spatial audio.
Technology and Performance
The ES90 is designed to evolve over time, powered by next-generation core computers that represent an eightfold improvement over previous generations. It is the first Volvo car with 800V technology, allowing for longer range and faster charging.
Key technological features include:
- Core Computing: Powered by a dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin configuration, making it Volvo’s most powerful car in terms of core computing capacity.
- Infotainment System: New-generation infotainment system with Google built-in, including Google Maps,
- Google Assistant, and more apps on Google Play. The 5G-capable system is powered by the Snapdragon®
- Cockpit Platform from Qualcomm Technologies.
- Displays: A 9-inch driver display and head-up display for driving-critical information, along with a 14.5-inch centre screen display for navigation, entertainment, and climate control. A 360 camera supports a new 3D view for navigating tight parking spaces.

- ES90 can add 300 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes at 350 kW fast charging stations and offers a driving range of up to 700 kilometres under the WLTP testing cycle.
- Aerodynamics: A drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.25, the lowest of any Volvo car, contributes to efficiency and a longer driving range.

Safety remains a core focus for Volvo. The ES90 is designed to protect everyone in and around the car and meets Volvo Cars’ rigorous Safety Standard, building on 55 years of real-world safety research.

- Sensor Array: Advanced array of sensors including five radars, seven cameras, twelve ultrasonic sensors, and a lidar from Luminar Technologies.
- Driver Understanding System: Detects when the driver’s attention is not focused on the road and provides support.
- Safe Space Technology: Includes door opening alert to protect cyclists and pedestrians and full-cabin occupant sensing to prevent leaving anyone behind.
Availability
The new Volvo ES90 is currently available for order in select European markets, with other markets to be added later in 2025 and into 2026
