BMW’s foray into the all-electric SUV market with the iX has been nothing short of groundbreaking, and the 2026 model takes this a step further, showcasing the brand’s commitment to innovation and performance. The new iX is not just an update; it’s a significant evolution, boasting enhanced power, a sportier aesthetic, and an impressive increase in range.

The models have an improved energy consumption with the iX xDrive45 at 20.9 kWh/62 miles, the iX xDrive60 M Sport at 21.0 kWh/62 miles and the iX M70 xDrive at 23.6 kWh/62 miles. The 2026 iX sports a refreshed exterior design that exudes both sportiness and luxury. The M Sport trim gets a significant upgrade with sculpted front and rear aprons, new aerodynamic wheels (including optional 23-inch M light-alloy wheels), and high-gloss black accents.

The front kidney grille is redesigned with the option of BMW Iconic Glow illumination, and the adaptive LED headlights feature new vertical and diagonal elements. Seven new exterior paint finishes are available, offering further personalisation.

Interior and Technology

The interior of the new iX benefits from the M Sport trim, featuring M multifunction seats and an M leather steering wheel, plus a high-gloss black centre console. The car also includes the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with Head-up Display and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System as standard.

The iX features BMW Operating System 8.5, providing an intuitive user experience via touch screen and voice control, plus the use of digital services, such as video streaming and in-car gaming.

Charging

The new iX models boast improved charging capabilities with direct current charging up to 195 kW for the iX xDrive60 and iX M70 xDrive, and 175 kW for the iX xDrive45. All models can charge via alternating current at up to 22 kW. The vehicles also have optimised pre-conditioning of the high-voltage battery and enhanced charging current control.

Driving Dynamics

The chassis and suspension have been fine-tuned to match the increased performance. The M70 xDrive includes adaptive two-axle air suspension, electronically controlled shock absorbers, and Integral Active Steering for enhanced manoeuvrability. All models come standard with Hill Descent Control and the option to deactivate Dynamic Stability Control.
