2024 Genesis GV80: What’s new in the luxury SUV?

The Genesis GV80, the flagship SUV of Hyundai’s premium brand, has received a major update for the 2024 model year. The new GV80 not only features a refreshed exterior and interior design, but also introduces a sporty coupe variant and a more powerful engine option. Here are some of the highlights of the 2024 Genesis GV80:

A sleeker and more sophisticated look

The 2024 GV80 adopts a new front fascia that emphasizes its width and presence. The signature crest grille is narrower and wider, while the quad headlights are sharper and more angular. The lower bumper and air intakes are also redesigned to create a more dynamic impression.

The side profile of the GV80 remains largely unchanged, except for the new wheel designs that range from 20 to 22 inches in size. The rear end of the SUV, however, gets a more noticeable makeover. The exhaust outlets are deleted for a cleaner look, while the taillights are reshaped to match the headlights. The rear bumper also features a black trim that surrounds the diffuser.

The GV80 Coupe, on the other hand, is a new addition to the lineup that offers a more athletic and elegant alternative to the standard SUV. The coupe has a sloping roofline that merges with the rear spoiler, creating a distinctive silhouette. The coupe also retains the quad exhaust pipes and adds a dark chrome trim to accentuate its sportiness.

A revamped interior with a massive screen

The cabin of the 2024 GV80 gets a major overhaul, with a new steering wheel, dashboard, and center console. The most striking feature is the 27-inch OLED display that combines the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment screen into one seamless unit. The display offers high-resolution graphics, customizable layouts, and intuitive controls.

The center console also gets a new wireless charging pad for smartphones, as well as physical knobs for volume and tuning. The lower dashboard and the climate control panel are simplified for a more minimalist look. The materials and finishes are also upgraded, with leather, wood, metal, and carbon fiber options available.

The second-row passengers are not forgotten either, as they get their own 14.6-inch screens mounted on the front seatbacks. These screens can display various entertainment and information functions, as well as control some of the vehicle settings. The second-row seats are also available as power-adjustable captain’s chairs with wing-type headrests.

A more potent engine option for the coupe
The 2024 GV80 offers three engine options: a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 with 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, and a high-output version of the 3.5-liter V6 with 409 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. The latter is exclusive to the GV80 Coupe, and it features an electric supercharger that boosts its performance and efficiency.

All engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. The GV80 also comes with various driving modes, including a Sport+ mode for the coupe that enhances its exhaust sound and handling.

A comprehensive suite of safety and technology features
The 2024 GV80 is equipped with a wide range of safety and technology features that make it one of the most advanced vehicles in its segment. Some of these features include:

A competitive pricing and availability

The 2024 Genesis GV80 facelift pricing has not been officially announced yet, but it is expected to start at around $57,450 for the base Select trim level and go up to around $81,500 for the top-of-the-line Prestige Signature trim. This is a slight increase from the 2023 pricing, which starts at $56,843 for the Select trim and goes up to $80,535 for the Prestige Signature trim.

The GV80 competes with other luxury SUVs such as the BMW X52, Mercedes-Benz GLE3, Audi Q74, Lexus RX5, Volvo XC90, and Range Rover Sport. The GV80 Coupe, however, will have fewer rivals, as it will be one of the few coupe-style SUVs in the segment, along with the BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, and Audi Q8.

The 2024 Genesis GV80 is a significant update for the brand’s flagship SUV, as it offers a more refined and distinctive design, a more luxurious and high-tech interior, a more powerful and efficient engine option, and a more sporty and elegant coupe variant. The GV80 is poised to challenge the established players in the luxury SUV market, and to attract more customers to the Genesis brand.
