Skoda Kodiaq 2024: A New Look for the Popular SUV

Official launch expected on Oct.4

Skoda has teased the exterior design of its upcoming second-generation Kodiaq, which is expected to debut in the coming days. The new SUV will feature an evolutionary design that retains the familiar double headlights and C-shaped taillights, but with some subtle changes to give it a more modern and refined look.

The sketches released by Skoda show two different versions of the Kodiaq, one in yellow and one in silver. The yellow one has a more prominent light bar that connects the taillights, while the silver one has a simpler design with separate units. It is unclear which one will be available on the production model, or if Skoda will offer both options.

The new Kodiaq will also be slightly longer than the current model, with an increase of 61 millimeters (2.4 inches) in length. However, the wheelbase will remain unchanged at 2791 mm (110 in). The cargo capacity will also improve, especially for the five-seat version, which will offer 910 liters of space with the rear seats folded. The seven-seat version will have 845 liters of space.

The interior of the new Kodiaq has already been revealed by Skoda, and it shows a major departure from the first-generation model. The new SUV will have a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13-inch infotainment system, and three configurable Smart Dials with a 1.25-inch diagonal. These tiny screens will allow the driver to access various functions without using too many buttons on the center console.

The engine lineup of the new Kodiaq will consist of familiar units from the Volkswagen Group, such as the 1.5 TSI, 2.0 TSI, and 2.0 TDI. All of them will be paired with a dual-clutch, seven-speed automatic transmission. Some versions will have front-wheel drive, while others will have all-wheel drive. The most interesting addition will be a plug-in hybrid variant, which will use a 1.5 TSI engine and a six-speed DSG gearbox.

The new Skoda Kodiaq is expected to be one of the most popular SUVs in its segment, as it offers a spacious and versatile interior, a sleek and elegant exterior, and a range of efficient and powerful engines. The new SUV will also benefit from Skoda’s reputation for reliability and value for money.
