The Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback are among the most popular electric SUVs in the market, thanks to their spacious interiors, sleek designs, and advanced technologies. Now, Audi is making them even more attractive with a comprehensive update for the 2024 model year. The new Q4 e-tron models will feature more range, more power, more efficiency, and more emotions.
More Range and Efficiency
One of the most important aspects of an electric vehicle is its range. The Q4 e-tron models have a large battery that provides 77 kWh of net energy (82 kWh gross). Audi has improved the cell chemistry and the thermal management system to increase the efficiency and the charging power of the battery. The rear-wheel drive models can now achieve a maximum DC charging power of 135 kW, while the quattro models can reach up to 175 kW. This means that they can charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 28 minutes under ideal conditions. The Q4 e-tron models also feature a battery protection function that automatically limits the charge level to 80 percent to extend battery life.
The Q4 e-tron models also benefit from an optimized drive concept that uses a permanently excited synchronous machine (PSM) on the rear axle. The PSM is notable for its higher efficiency and greater power than the previous drive system. The Q4 e-tron models can now deliver more range and superior power delivery. For example, the Q4 Sportback 45 e-tron can reach a range of up to 562 kilometers (349 mi) in the WLTP cycle.
More Power and Emotions
The Q4 e-tron models are not only efficient, but also powerful and fun to drive. The update gives them more power and torque, as well as a sportier suspension and a characteristic sound. The Q4 e-tron 45 quattro and the Q4 Sportback 45 e-tron quattro now have an output of 245 kW (335 hp) and a torque of 520 Nm (383.5 lb-ft). They can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 5.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 km/h (111.8 mph).
The Q4 e-tron models also feature a newly tuned suspension that enhances the driving dynamics and comfort. The suspension has three settings: comfort, auto, and dynamic. The comfort setting provides a smooth ride, while the dynamic setting offers more agility and responsiveness. The auto setting adapts to the driving situation and the driver’s preferences.
The Q4 e-tron models also have a new sound signature that creates an emotional connection between the driver and the vehicle. The sound is generated by an external sound generator at the front and rear of the vehicle, as well as by speakers inside the cabin. The sound varies according to the driving mode, speed, and accelerator pedal position. The sound can be adjusted or switched off via the MMI system.
More Standard Equipment and Functions
The Q4 e-tron models also come with more standard equipment and functions that enhance the safety, convenience, and connectivity of the vehicle. For example, they now have LED headlights and taillights, lane departure warning, Audi pre sense front, Audi smartphone interface, Audi virtual cockpit plus, MMI navigation plus with touch display, Audi connect navigation & infotainment plus, ambient lighting package plus, four-zone automatic air conditioning, comfort key with sensor-controlled luggage compartment release, panoramic glass sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function for the driver’s seat, leather steering wheel with multifunction plus and shift paddles, sport seats in front with S-embossing and contrast stitching, Matrix LED headlights with dynamic turn signals in front and rear, adaptive cruise assist with lane change assist, head-up display, Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System with 3D sound in front and rear.
The Q4 e-tron models also offer wireless software updates via an over-the-air interface that allows them to receive new features and functions in the future. The updates can be performed conveniently via the myAudi app or directly in the vehicle.
The Q4 e-tron models also support Plug & Charge function together with a charging contract from the Audi charging service. This means that they can automatically authorize and activate compatible charging stations when the charging cable is plugged in. Billing is also automatic.
Pricing and Availability
The updated Q4 e-tron models will be available to order from September 26, starting at 52,950 euros for the Q4 e-tron 35 quattro Advanced line. The Q4 Sportback e-tron will start at 54,450 euros for the same configuration. The first deliveries are expected in early 2024.
The Q4 e-tron models are part of Audi’s ambitious plan to electrify its portfolio and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Audi aims to have more than 20 fully electric models by 2025, covering all market segments from the compact class to the luxury class. The Q4 e-tron models are based on the modular electrification platform (MEB), which is shared with other Volkswagen Group brands. The Q4 e-tron models are produced at the Zwickau plant in Germany, which is powered by renewable energy.
The Q4 e-tron models are designed to appeal to a wide range of customers who are looking for a sustainable, versatile, and premium electric SUV. With the update for the 2024 model year, Audi has made them even more attractive and competitive in the fast-growing electric vehicle market.
