The GMC Acadia is a three-row midsize SUV that has been completely redesigned for the 2024 model year. The new Acadia is bigger, bolder, more advanced and more luxurious than ever, but one trim level stands out for its off-road capability and rugged style: the AT4.
The AT4 is not new to the Acadia lineup, but it has been significantly enhanced for the 2024 model year. It features a unique exterior design with dark accents, signature red tow hooks, integrated skid plates and a taller, more truck-like grille. It also has a lifted ride height, a wider track, 18-inch aluminum wheels with all-terrain tires and an off-road-tuned suspension with hydraulic rebound control.
But the AT4 is not just about looks. It also has an exclusive Active Torque Control all-wheel drive system with twin-clutch rear differentials that can distribute torque between the front and rear axles, as well as between the left and right rear wheels, depending on the driving conditions. The AT4 also has a traction select system with a terrain mode that adapts the throttle response, transmission shift points and stability control settings for optimal performance on different surfaces.
The AT4 is powered by a new 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine is standard across all trims of the 2024 Acadia, and it offers more power and more towing capability than the previous generation. The AT4 can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.
Inside, the AT4 offers a spacious and comfortable cabin that can seat up to seven passengers in leather-appointed first- and second-row seats. The third row can be folded flat to increase the cargo space, which has grown significantly compared to the previous generation. The 2024 Acadia has nearly 24 percent more overall max cargo volume, 36.3 percent more max storage behind the second row and a cavernous 79.6 percent more behind the third row.
The AT4 also comes with a host of advanced technology features, including a standard portrait-oriented 15-inch-diagonal premium GMC infotainment system display that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Google-based apps and services. The AT4 also has an 11-inch-diagonal digital gauge cluster, a wireless charging pad, a Bose premium sound system and a panoramic sunroof.
The AT4 also offers an impressive array of safety and driver-assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, intersection assist, rear camera mirror and high definition surround vision. The AT4 is also available with Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free driver-assistance system that can operate on more than 400,000 miles of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada. Super Cruise can also perform automatic lane changes and trailer assist functions.
The 2024 GMC Acadia AT4 is expected to arrive in dealerships in early 2024. Pricing has not been announced yet, but it will likely be higher than the current AT4 model, which starts at $43,395. The AT4 is a compelling choice for buyers who want a midsize SUV that can handle both on-road and off-road adventures with style and confidence.
