Cupra, the performance-oriented sub-brand of SEAT, has unveiled a stunning concept car at the Munich Motor Show that showcases its vision of a future electric sports car. The Cupra DarkRebel is a two-seater coupé with a shooting brake architecture that combines a sleek and aggressive design with a 100% electric powertrain. The concept car is the result of a collaborative design process with the Cupra Tribe, a community of fans and ambassadors who helped shape the car’s appearance through a virtual configurator.
A Provocative Design
The Cupra DarkRebel is not a car for the faint-hearted. It is a car that pushes the boundaries of design and performance, and questions the way cars will be imagined and created in the future.
The DarkRebel represents the ultimate expression of our Cupra DNA but now without limits, a car with one mission: to boost your emotions orge Díez, Head of Design at CUPRA
The concept car features a striking liquid body colour that changes depending on the light and the angle. The front and rear lights are integrated into the bodywork, creating a seamless and futuristic look. The Cupra badge is also illuminated, adding to the car’s presence. The central cell of the car is inspired by a speed boat, and is surrounded by large wings, diffusers, spoilers, cooling and aerodynamic elements that give the car a dynamic and muscular stance. The car also features scissor doors that extend upwards when opened, adding to the car’s dramatic flair.
The interior of the car is equally impressive, with a minimalist and sporty design. The cabin features two bucket seats with integrated headrests and seat belts, as well as a gaming-style steering wheel and display screens. The dashboard is dominated by a large curved screen that provides all the relevant information and controls for the driver. The centre console also features a touchpad that allows the driver to adjust various settings and modes. LED door cards and a glowing crystal gear selector are also present. Here’s something really cool: Cupra installed a thermal camera in the headliner of the vehicle and directed it at the passengers. The ambient lights around the air outlets under the windscreen glow either red or blue depending on whether the blower is supplying hot or cold air. It monitors the cabin temperature and automatically adjusts the air conditioning to suit.
A Powerful Performance
The Cupra DarkRebel is not only a design statement, but also a performance machine.
With almost 450 horsepower (peak power), the CUPRA DarkRebel is the brand’s most potent showcar to date, reaching 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds.
A Dream Come True
The Cupra DarkRebel is not just a concept car, but also a dream come true for Cupra fans and enthusiasts. The concept car is the result of a collaborative design process with the Cupra Tribe, a community of more than 270,000 people who participated in creating their own versions of the car through a virtual configurator called Hyper Configurator. The data collected from these configurations was then used to shape the final design of the Cupra DarkRebel, which was then brought to life in physical form.
hanks to the passion and creativity of the Cupra Tribe, we have now been able to make one of our most powerful obsessions into a real showcar.
