Land Rover has officialy presented the Range Rover Sport SV

Mild-hybrid SUV with 635hp

Land Rover has officially launched the new generation of the Range Rover Sport SV, which is the high-performance version of their luxury SUV. This new generation SV model is the most powerful Range Rover ever produced, thanks to its V8 engine that delivers 635 horsepower. Along with its impressive power, the Range Rover Sport SV also receives new technologies that are seen for the first time in a production car.

The new model is not only the most powerful Range Rover ever built but also the most technologically advanced. It introduces several innovative technologies that are unprecedented in a production car.

Exterior design

Range Rover Sport SV receives an aggressive visual package compared to other versions. This package includes aerodynamic elements mounted under the front bumper and along the side sills, as well as several components made of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber can be found in the grille area, front spoiler, side air intakes, hood, and the four rear exhausts.

Additionally, in a first for a production model, the Range Rover Sport SV is equipped with 23-inch carbon fiber wheels. These wheels are available as an optional feature and contribute to a weight reduction of up to 35.6 kilograms. The wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires. The wheels also conceal a new optional braking system with carbon ceramic discs. This braking system reduces the vehicle’s mass by up to 34 kilograms and features Brembo-developed calipers with 8 pistons. The calipers can be painted in yellow, red, bronze, or black.

Engine

The Range Rover Sport SV has a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine, which is produced by BMW. This new engine incorporates mild-hybrid technology and delivers an impressive output of 635 horsepower and a torque of 750 Nm. In comparison, the new engine provides an increase of 60 horsepower and 50 Nm of torque compared to the previous 5.0-liter V8 engine found in the Range Rover SVR. Consequently, the new Range Rover SV is the most powerful production Range Rover ever produced.

These performance claims are further supported by the new model’s impressive capabilities. The Range Rover Sport SV can accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h (0 to 60 mph) in just 3.6 seconds, and it has a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph). Additionally, thanks to the implementation of mild-hybrid technology, the CO2 emissions of the new engine have been reduced by 15% compared to the previous powertrain. The engine is exclusively paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Adaptive Suspension

The Range Rover Sport SV receives a 6D suspension, which is a first for a production car. This innovative suspension system combines pneumatic control for ride height and pitch with hydraulic control for the dampers. With the new semi-active suspension, conventional anti-roll bars are eliminated, and the new suspension significantly reduces roll and pitch during high-speed cornering. The new suspension is lighter and offers a higher level of comfort, as emphasized by Land Rover.

Thanks to the new suspension, the ground clearance of the new model is lower by up to 25 millimeters, depending on the driving mode, compared to other versions of the luxury SUV. The new suspension works in tandem with other advanced systems of the performance model, such as the intelligent all-wheel-drive system, all-wheel steering, torque vectoring by braking, configurable dynamic behavior, and an active rear differential with locking capability.

Interior improvements

Exclusive satin carbon fiber-backed SV Performance Seats with integrated headrests, more contoured bolsters, and lighted SV insignia on their backrests are featured inside the cockpit-like cabin. A new UltrafabricsTM PU interior with lightweight, seamless, ‘3D Knit to shape’ textile is now available. Translucent edge-lit gear shift paddles nestle behind a steering wheel with more pronounced thumb grips, while the console gear shifter is made of cool-to-touch black ceramic.

Range Rover Sport SV features special seats called Body and Soul Seats (BASS). These seats incorporate sensory audio technology, allowing the driver and front passenger to feel vibrations from the rhythm of a song directly in the seat. This innovative feature enhances the audio experience and adds an extra level of immersion for occupants. This is possible thanks to the SUBPAC system based on artificial intelligence, with multiple transducers mounted in the seats. Land Rover further states that the new seats can influence the well-being of the front occupants by affecting the variability of the heart rate. For this purpose, Land Rover collaborated with a university in the United Kingdom to create six special modes for the seats: Poise, Soothe, Serene, Cool, Tonic, and Glow. This system works in tandem with the Meridian Signature Sound System, a 29-speaker, 1430W system.

Alongside the revolutionary seats, the Range Rover Sport SV also features a 13.1-inch central screen for the Pivi Pro multimedia system. The model is equipped with a steering wheel with haptic controls, as well as advanced assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and Amazon Alexa voice command.
