The front of the Touareg has been redesigned with a wider grille in an elegant chrome design in the regular versions, and a more aggressive and sharpened design in the sporty R-Line versions. Beneath the new grille, there are wider and more prominent air intakes, and the new design for the front is complemented by new IQ.LIGHT HD LED headlights, with each headlight featuring over 19,200 micro LED bulbs. At the rear, there are also new lighting units that display a new lighting signature, a LED strip connecting the two taillights, and an illuminated Volkswagen emblem. New wheel designs in sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches complete the exterior update for the model.

The passenger compartment of the 2024 Touareg showcases a design similar to what we know from the outgoing model and continues to offer a 15-inch multimedia display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, four-zone climate control, a head-up display, night vision system, and more.

The multimedia system has received a faster processor, advanced voice operation, an updated graphical interface, and wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The USB ports have been upgraded to USB Type-C ports that offer fast charging at 45W. Additional soft leather padding has been added to the knee area on the center console between the seats, the ambient lighting has been upgraded, and the door panels have also received upholstery enhancements.

Talking about engines, buyers of the updated Touareg will be able to choose from a variety of V6 engines alongside two plug-in hybrid eHybrid powertrains. Gasoline enthusiasts can opt for the 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine with an output of 340 horsepower, while those who prefer diesel can choose the 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine with power outputs of 231 horsepower or 286 horsepower.

Above these models are the two plug-in hybrid eHybrid versions based on the 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine and a battery with a capacity of 17.9 kWh (net: 14.3 kWh), unchanged from the outgoing model. The base version of this system offers a total output of 381 horsepower, while the top-tier version serving the performance-oriented Touareg R model offers a total output of 462 horsepower and allows the specific model to achieve a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in 5.1 seconds.

All engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. Depending on the trim level, we can also find adaptive dampers, air suspension, active stabilizer bars, and rear-wheel steering. All of these systems have received various upgrades and improvements for the updated model.

Presales will begin tomorrow on Thursday, 25 May. Prices start from €69,200 in EU.
