The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is a highly anticipated pickup truck that offers a combination of ruggedness, versatility, and advanced features. Toyota has introduced eight trims for the 2024 Tacoma, including the TRD Off-Road, TRD Sport, TRD Pro, and Trailhunter.
Tacoma SR
The base model of this pickup truck is still the Toyota Tacoma SR. Compared to the other trims, it can feel a little more simple, but for some customers, it can be just enough. It is offered as a Double Cab or as what Toyota is referring to as the XtraCab.
Similar to the Tundra and 4Runner, the SR is the smallest model in the Tacoma lineup. It will be offered with the aforementioned base engine, but an improved version and a six-speed manual transmission are also options.
Also included:
• LED lighting
• Smart key system
• Twin-tube shocks
• Leaf-spring rear suspension
• 17-inch wheels
• 7-inch gauge cluster and an 8-inch center multimedia display
Tacoma SR5
The Tacoma SR5 is a step up from the SR and offers greater sophistication. The multilink rear suspension that comes with the Double Cab model should provide more comfort than the rear leaf springs that are standard.
Additionally, the iFORCE engine’s 278 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque give you a little bit more power. Sadly, it appears that Toyota is not providing the six-speed manual here. The 17-inch alloy wheels are standard as well.
Tacoma TRD PreRunner
We haven’t seen PreRunner badging on a Toyota for a while, but it’s back now. RWD and a rear locking differential that is electrically operated are features of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner.
This midsize truck does have all-terrain tires as standard equipment, which increases its reputation as an adventurer. And that ought to help in terms of capability even with 2WD.
It also tragically lacks a manual option and comes with the improved 2.4-liter engine.
Tacoma TRD Sport
The TRD Sport trim, on the other hand, caters to drivers seeking a sportier and more dynamic driving experience. You can choose the i-FORCE MAX hybrid engine, which produces 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. It offers sport-tuned suspension, a hood scoop, and 18-inch alloy wheels for a more aggressive appearance. Additionally, the TRD Sport features a sport-tuned exhaust system for an enhanced engine sound. Optional JBL Flex speaker (which sits and charges within the dashboard) available.
Tacoma TRD Off-Road
This variant of the Tacoma is designed for those who enjoy off-road adventures. It features an enhanced suspension system, off-road tires, and a locking rear differential to tackle challenging terrains with ease. The TRD Off-Road also comes equipped with the Multi-Terrain Select system, which allows drivers to choose different driving modes based on the terrain conditions they are encountering.
Tacoma Limited
Some people prefer a midsize truck that is cozy and has decent off-road abilities. That is the Toyota Tacoma Limited for 2024. Some people may view the hybrid engine and available adaptive variable suspension as benefits.
Toyota appears to have included standard heated and cooled front seats. Both the non-hybrid and hybrid engines are available based on your needs and preferences, just like other Tacoma trucks at this price point.Available full-time 4×4 (i-Force Max only).
Tacoma TRD Pro
For those looking for the ultimate off-road performance, the TRD Pro trim is the top-tier offering in the Tacoma lineup. It boasts several upgrades such as upgraded suspension components, all-terrain tires, a front skid plate, and a unique grille design. The TRD Pro also incorporates advanced off-road technologies like Crawl Control and Multi-Terrain Monitor to assist drivers in navigating challenging terrains. Damping is now provided by 2.5-inch Fox QS3 adjustable dampers with a remote reservoir in the back, and the rear end is equipped with Fox IFP (internal floating piston) hydraulic bump stops nested within the coil springs. The detachable front anti-roll bar is standard equipment here.
Tacoma Trailhunter
Finally, we have the Trailhunter trim, which is a new addition to the Tacoma lineup. It is specifically designed for outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers. The Trailhunter comes equipped with features like a snorkel air intake, heavy-duty suspension, all-terrain tires, and additional underbody protection for increased off-road capability. This trim is geared towards those who enjoy exploring remote and rugged terrains.
Interior
Moving on to the interior and technology aspects of the 2024 Tacoma, Toyota has focused on providing a comfortable and connected driving experience. The interior offers a spacious cabin with supportive seating, high-quality materials, and modern design elements. Advanced technology features include an infotainment system with a touchscreen display, smartphone integration (such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), a premium audio system, and a range of driver-assistance features to enhance safety and convenience.
