Xpeng, a leading Chinese smart electric vehicle company, has unveiled its fifth smart EV model, the Xpeng G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV, at Auto Shanghai 2023. The G6 is the first production model to use the company’s latest smart electric platform architecture, SEPA2.0, which enables it to offer cutting-edge smart features, superfast charging and superior performance. The G6 is designed to appeal to the younger generation who are looking for a stylish, smart and high-performance electric vehicle.
Sci-Fi Inspired Design
The G6 features a striking body design with a new concept of tech-fluid aesthetics that showcases a sporty style, dynamic performance and roomy comfort. The G6 has a sleek and futuristic appearance, with a low roofline, a large grille, LED headlights and taillights, and a dual-tone color scheme. The G6 also has a spacious and luxurious interior, with a panoramic sunroof, a 12.8-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The G6 offers ample legroom and headroom for both front and rear passengers, as well as a large trunk space.
Superior Smart Features
The G6 is powered by Xpeng’s latest XNGP, Xmart OS 4.0 and X-EEA 3.5 for superior smart features. The XNGP is an advanced driver assistance system that provides features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane change assist, traffic sign recognition, blind spot detection, parking assist, and emergency braking. The XNGP also supports over-the-air updates and can learn from user behavior and road conditions to improve its performance. The Xmart OS 4.0 is an intelligent cabin system that provides features such as voice control, facial recognition, cloud services, navigation, entertainment, and remote control. The Xmart OS 4.0 also supports over-the-air updates and can customize the cabin settings according to the user’s preferences and habits. The X-EEA 3.5 is an upgraded central supercomputing capability and domain controller that increases interconnection speed and provides a super powerful foundation for the XNGP and the Xmart OS 4.0.
Superfast Charging and Superior Performance
The G6 is equipped with the company’s world-class, 800V high-voltage SiC platform and 3C battery cell technology that deliver a maximum range of 755km (469 miles) and a fast charging capability of 300km (186 miles) with a 10-minute charge. The 800V high-voltage SiC platform reduces energy loss and improves charging efficiency, while the 3C battery cell technology enhances battery performance and safety. The G6 also has a front and rear integrated aluminum body die-casting technology and a CIB battery-body integration technology that enhance its structural strength, safety and handling. The G6 has a powerful motor that delivers 320kW (429hp) of peak power and 660Nm (487lb-ft) of peak torque. The G6 can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 200km/h (124mph).
Pricing and Availability
The G6 has a starting price of RMB 249,800 ($38,500) for the base model and RMB 329,800 ($50,800) for the top model. The G6 is expected to go on sale in China in early 2024. The G6 is aimed at redefining the mobility experience of a broad customer base with streamlined configurations, outstanding performance, a unified immersive product experience and efficient development iterations.
