Lynk & Co, an automobile brand created in 2016 by Geely and Volvo, presents its eighth model in the range β 08 β so almost all numbers from 1 to 10 are already taken!π
All models launched so far have been based on the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform, initially developed by Volvo for small cars. However, itβs time to use CMA 2.0! The new model measures 4,820 x 1,915 x 1,685 x 2,848 mm in length, width, height and wheelbase, which means it is slightly larger than BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC or Volvo XC60. It has frameless windows and a series of interesting design solutions. The new brand style was preliminarily announced by the concept of The Next Day in 2022.
The corporate architecture of the two-level optical blocks has been preserved but has undergone modifications: LED daytime running lights are combined into blocks in the form of the letter H and extend almost to the windshield. The central section between the main headlights, which visually connects them, contains 32 LEDs and lights up automatically when the owner approaches with the car key.
Standard comes with 21-inch wheels. Look at how original the side mirrors are designed and how many cameras they contain in total, including on the support.
The dashboard in the cabin is made in a typical modern style, with two generous monitors of 12.3 and 15.4 inches. Also, there is a head-up display whose image βhangsβ ten meters in front of the car. By the way, Lynk & Co 08 is the first car to use the new Flyme Auto operating system from Meizu (a Chinese smartphone manufacturer that was recently acquired by Geely).
The handles to grab on the interior doors are originally made, and buttons are used to open them electromagnetically from the cabin. The gearbox control is done through a lever on the right side of the steering column. Among other things, it has a panoramic roof (without sliding section), a facial scanner and a Harman Kardon audio system with 23 speakers (including in headrests and mounts). A new set of accompanying / warning sounds was created especially for 08.
Details about whatβs under the hood are not yet available, but it has been announced that it will use a new propulsion unit from the Lynk E-Motive family. This means that it will be a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine assisted by an electric motor (probably the internal combustion engine will serve as an electric power generator). The rear suspension is multi-link.
More details to follow.
